BILSTEIN triumphs in the “Green Hell”

What a race: ups, downs and freak weather – but above all, great motorsports. That was the 44. ADAC Zürich 24h Race on the German Nürburgring, with everything this traditional event has always been known for. After a very exciting race, with more than 30 changes in the leading position, the Mercedes AMG GT3 numbered 4 and fielded by BILSTEIN partner Black Falcon finally won, after a spectacular overtaking in the last lap. Drivers Bernd Schneider, Maro Engel, Adam Christodoulou and Manuel Metzger in the end and on aggregate had an edge of no more than 5.697 seconds. The BILSTEIN-painted sibling, numbered 9, ranked fourth. Both cars featured BILSTEIN’s new, four-way-adjustable “Modular Damper System” during their trip through the “Green Hell”.

“We are very pleased with this great success and our partner’s showing in this memorable race. That our modular shock absorber system has once again worked perfectly on one of the most exacting race tracks ever is not only attested to by this victory, but also by the fact that the team occupied the pole position and drove the fastest lap of the whole race,” BILSTEIN’s motorsport director Martin Flick congratulated the winners.

Another positive surprise was the 7th place obtained by the Bentley Continental GT3 fielded for the first time by the C. Abt Racing factory team. This English super sports car had also been equipped by BILSTEIN, the gas-pressure shock absorber pioneer, with its new MDS.

The Aston Martin Racing factory team, with its two Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, and Land Motorsport’s Audi R8 LMS, both also equipped with BILSTEIN components, were less lucky and didn’t reach the finish line in these adverse weather conditions.

All in all, more than 40 BILSTEIN-equipped cars took part in this 24h classic. The six factory cars in the top category GT3 aside, there were also plenty in lower categories, where BILSTEIN customers were also successful. Black Falcon won the SP7 with a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup and the V6 with a Porsche 991. In the SP3T, the Subaru WRX STI fielded by Subaru Tecnica International was successful. In the V3, the winner was a TMG GT86 driven by the Belgian Pit Lane AMC Sankt Vith team. This Toyota, and the Opel Astra OPC in Cup1, is equipped with simultaneously traction/compression-adjustable BILSTEIN mono-tube gas-pressure shock absorbers with upside-down technology.

BILSTEIN scored another 24h win in the Nürburgring fringe programme. The ADAC 24h Classic, a trophy race for classic cars, was won by Michael Schrey, whose Porsche 935 K1 also featured BILSTEIN components.
