OE replacement parts, performance upgrades, air suspension, off-road

With its brand-new active B4 air suspension modules for VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Audi A8 and VW Phaeton, BILSTEIN will be showing its extensive range of standard replacement components at this year’s automechanika (hall 6.0, stand B40). Today, the pioneer of gas-pressure shock absorbers not only offers standard suspension technology products, but also offers a whole range of modern solutions. Other products on exhibit will include the B4 air suspension modules for the Land Rover Discovery III, the Mercedes M-Class W164 and the S-Class W221, B1 compressor and the B3 air suspension for the BMW X5 E70.

Strength in numbers

BILSTEIN’s aim is not to offer “stand-alone” solutions, but preferably to offer total solutions that including peripheral systems. An example of this can be seen in the above-mentioned BMW 3 Series B1 shock absorber accessories, which include the mentioned compressors, as well as dust protection pipes or bump stops. The matching springs found in the B3 series underline BILSTEIN’s approach to a total solution. The miniblock springs and KMP coilover springs for the Opel Insignia show the extent of this range.

Standard replacement for adaptive shock absorbers

Progress has not stopped at conventional steel spring suspensions either. In the original equipment sector, BILSTEIN has been participating in the development of electronically adjustable shock absorbers for many years and supplies the corresponding standard replacement parts and upgrade solutions. For the Porsche 911 (991) with adaptive suspension, for example, the standard part shock absorbers BILSTEIN B4 DampTronic® will be on display in Frankfurt and possess all the original functions. The alternatively available gas-pressure shock absorbers B6 DampTronic® have an even higher damping force, durability and performance. As an improved standard replacement part, the BILSTEIN B6 is available in many versions. For example, as a passive solution for the VW Golf VII.

Modern suspension technology for retrofitting

Not only do adaptive suspension components play a role in original equipment, but they are becoming ever more important in the aftermarket. Take for example the BILSTEIN B6 shock absorber with optional “ridecontrol®” which can be retrofitted on models which never had this option available from the factory or for which it was previously not available. An example of this are the components for the off-road veteran Land Rover Defender, for which these parts will be on display at automechanika. The additional module BILSTEIN iRC can even be controlled by smartphone and the tailored app offers many other setting options.

Always on track, even when off-road

BILSTEIN offers its customers more than just road going products. At the trade fair, the company will present the brand-new BILSTEIN B8 8125 high performance shock absorber that incorporate an external reservoir for use on off-road trucks and rock crawlers. Another example of BILSTEIN’s extensive “off-road range” can be seen in the BILSTEIN B8 6112 shock absorber for the Toyota FJ Cruiser.

With such a diverse range and many thousands of part numbers, it is a good thing that customers can always count on excellent advice from BILSTEIN; either in the daily routine of workshops or at the trade fair booth at automechanika.
